“Liz is a gifted painter, walking the tightrope between imagery and abstraction with irony and strangeness. Animated figures dance and strut across the canvas in high color—daring to go between greys and pinks, losing teeth and limbs in the process. Body parts appear and vanish. I hesitate to call the work expressionistic; it’s almost painfully created over weeks of time with a lot of self-questioning and doubt. When the painting is finished, it is an eye-jolter—triumphant and clear.”
