New Work – March 2010

Strange Rider, 2010, acrylic on canvas, 36 x 55 inches

It looks like my palette is shifting. This painting wanted to be grey and cherry red the whole time I was working it, and then became… this. However, I feel like I am getting better control of my color. This is better than grey and cherry red, and for the first time I am able to use browns without obliterating them halfway through. High key color is stronger when you can balance it with neutrals. In general this painting feels like a turning point.
